This Thursday we will begin our study of the Psalms. This week we are simply going to have a brief overview of the Psalms by looking at how to read and interpret the Psalms. And since many of you have a better background in the Psalms than I may, we will end the study this week by having individuals share a particular Psalm that is dear to them (no participation required). Over the following ten weeks (which will take us through the Thursday before Holy Week) we will look more in-depth at particular types of Psalms. As to specific readings this week, please review chapters 1, 10, 11, and 12 of C. S. Lewis’ book Reflections on the Psalms. Also, please start or continue a daily reading of the Psalter. It only takes about 10 minutes per day to go through all 150 psalms in 30 days.
Supper will be served at 6. If you want to bring something, please let me know, and I will let you bring supper the next week. We will start the study a little after 6:30, and conclude our time together with Compline. If you have a 1979 BCP please bring it. I have a collection of five or six, so if you don’t have one, that’s o.k.
