This week is our last week in Ephesians. Next week will start Colossians, which was written and circulated at the same time as Ephesians (See, Eph. 6:21-22 and Col. 4:7-8). If you want to invite someone new, next week with the start of a new book would be a great time. Dinner this week is a baked potato bar.
Chapter 6 continues with the household codes and the placing of great responsibilities on those in charge. A few quick thoughts as you read through this chapter. Notice the simplicity of the instructions in verses 1-4 as regards its subject matter. To modernize the instructions in verses 5-9, insert “employee/employer” for “slave/master” and notice the radical egalitarianism Paul asserts at the end of this section. Finally, as you read through verses 14-20, think through and understand why Paul joins a particular virtue with a specific piece of armor, in other words, why is salvation considered a helmet and not a shield?
Dinner is at 6. Hope to see you here.
Peace be to the brethren, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
