Please join us tonight as we assemble Christmas stockings for children in Western North Carolina. Thank you to everyone who has contributed so far. I will be at St. Anne’s Conway tonight for the formal installation of Rev. Kevin Sparrow as their rector. Dinner is at 6 tonight. The menu is savory bacon and cheddar waffles (all waffles are made fresh to order). Assembling will begin after dinner.
SCHEDULE:
November 19: We will read selections from Isaiah 56-66. These are the very last prophecies in Isaiah and concern the glory and shame of Zion. These verses speak of God’s rescue of not only Israel but the whole world, including the marginalized and the Gentiles. These verses shape Luke’s telling of his Gospel Story.
November 26: This is our Annual Thanksgiving Dinner and Eucharist. The Rev. Rob Donahue will celebrate. RSVP is required. Please sign up tonight or next week, text Amy, or email me.
December 3: We will begin our journey through the entirety of Luke’s Gospel. We will begin with Luke 1 for the first week of Advent and end with Luke 24 on April 22, 2025, the first Tuesday of Easter. I hope you can join us as we read through an entire Gospel together.
As most of you know, this past Sunday, Annie Welles, a true joy and light to all of us, left this earthly life and began her journey home. Please continue to pray for George and the entire Welles family during this time. Requiescat in Pace.
O God of grace and glory, we remember before you this day
our sister Annie. We thank you for giving her to us, her
family and friends, to know and to love as a companion on
our earthly pilgrimage. In your boundless compassion,
console George and all of us who mourn. Give us faith to
see in death the gate of eternal life, so that in quiet
confidence we may continue our course on earth, until,
by your call, we are reunited with those who have gone before;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. 1979 BCP 493
