2 Corinthians 3, pt.1

This week, we will be enjoying a baked potato bar at the Jordan’s house.

In preparation for our journey through St. Paul’s second letter to the Corinthians, have a look at chapter 3. There is a good deal to unpack from what Paul is saying about “the letter of the law” and “freedom in the Spirit,” so we’ll spend some time talking about Paul’s theology of grace. We’ll revisit some of the theories about the circumstances surrounding Paul’s writing to the Corinthians with an eye to how the situation in Corinth may have affected Paul’s tenor (and *maybe* his theological emphasis!). Have some thought about how our own witness to the gospel can be shaped by our particular circumstances, and how we might take some of the treasure of Paul’s letter(s) and apply it in our daily discipleship.

Looking forward to it!

Pax,

Rob Donehue

Since, then, we have such a hope, we act with boldness.

2 Corinthians 3: 12

I’ve also attached some an article if you want to dig deeper into this letter. Happy reading! (Urban Religion in Roman Corinth, Ch.11)
