Isaiah in Advent, pt.2

Tonight we are going to read through and discuss the Advent lessons from the prophet Isaiah. Please read Isaiah 2:1-5, 11:1-10, 35:1-10, and 7:10-17.  You can see their position in the lectionary HERE. We will discuss these verses within the context of the lectionary for Advent.  Take the opportunity today to read through the verses along with the gospel lesson with which each is paired.  Allow the lessons to still your soul, and bring anticipation for the coming of the Christ Child.

Dinner is at 6. The menu is Domino’s pizza. Discussion about 6:45. Hope to see you here.

I was glad when they said to me,
“Let us go to the house of the LORD!”
Our feet are standing
    within your gates, O Jerusalem.
Jerusalem built as a city
    that is bound firmly together.
To it the tribes go up,
    the tribes of the LORD,
    as was decreed for Israel,
to give thanks to the name of the LORD.
For there the thrones for judgment were set up,
the thrones of the house of David.
Pray for the peace of Jerusalem:
“May they prosper who love you.
Peace be within your walls,
    and security within your towers.”
For the sake of my relatives and friends
I will say, “Peace be within you.”
For the sake of the house of the LORD our God,
    I will seek your good.

Psalm 122
