We had a great discussion this week concerning Mary. Fr. Gabriel brought out two points concerning the role of Mary. First, Mary always points to Jesus, and particularly the Incarnation, for it is with him alone that our salvation lies. The second point is to see Mary as the personification of the Church. The Church are those who “hear the Word of God and do it.” Luke 8:21. And it is Mary who first heard the word of God, embodied it, and gave it flesh. This is our role as well. I have attached the handout Fr. Gabriel used from John Behr’s The Mystery of Christ which explores Mary as the Church. pp127-39
- This Sunday, December 6 from from 5:00-8:00 is our annual Christmas drop-in. All are invited.
- Next Tuesday, December 8, there is NO GATHERING. We have a campaign event for my brother David Jordan who is running for Clerk of Court for Horry County. Election day is June 14.
- Sunday, December 13 is the inaugural monthly Beer and Hymns at Liberty Broadway-at-the-Beach from 7:00-8:30. The idea behind Beer and Hymns is to have a non-churchy place to get together to have good food, good friends, good drink, and to sing to praises to God. Please come and have a beer and sing traditional Christmas carols with us.
- Tuesday, December 15 we are gathering again for our Advent Study. Fr. Gabriel will be taking us through the Magnificant.
NEXT YEAR: If there is any topic, author, or book you would like the group discuss, please let me know.
Hope to see you on Sunday at the drop-in.
Peace be to the brethren, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Grace be with all who love our Lord Jesus Christ with love undying.Ephesians 6:24
